LA football team to bring traffic congestion to the area.
Traffic in Southern California is no walk in the park. It usually takes double the time it should to get anywhere and sometimes even longer during rush hour. Major events, however, seem to make this congestion worse. From concerts to sporting events, traffic seems to get even worse.
Los Angeles is set to receive yet another sports team. The St. Louis Rams are returning to Los Angeles. The National Football League (NFL) has approved the transfer of the St. Louis Rams to Los Angeles. While the news may be great for football fans, where they play will certainly affect traffic.
While there were two stadium locations in the running, officials have decided on a stadium. The new stadium is set to be built in Inglewood, California. With the 405, 105, and 110 freeways running through the area, traffic congestion is sure to increase once the stadium has been built.
Public transit isn't much better than taking the freeway. The public transit in the area needs major improvements. The nearest transit line to the Inglewood location is a mile away. Additionally, the bus systems are currently unequipped to handle such as a large influx of people. While the developers of the stadium have promised shuttles to transport fans to the stadium, there have been critiques that more sustainable plans need to be made.
Prior to the decision to build the Inglewood stadium, the city of Carson was also in the running. However, its plans for transportation were worse than that of Inglewood. Located near the 405, the Carson location's nearest public transit station is two miles away.
Currently, the Los Angeles Rams are set to play at the Los Angeles Coliseum until the new stadium is complete. Fortunately, the stadium is located right next to the Expo Line which will provide easy access to fans.
